Sensory Needs

A majority of autistic children have severe processing problems which makes it extremely difficult to cope with the world around them. Some children experience hypersensitivity to touch, sound, visual stimuli, balance, and certain body movements. Other children have sensory modulating problems and have no internalized sense of how much is too much for example spinning or swinging until they become ill. More information can be found in two wonderful books on implementing sensory intergration THE OUT OF SYNC CHILD and THE OUT OF SYNC CHILD HAS FUN.
